Youth Forum

On the 8th of December, 2012,  the first Youth Forum was organised to commemorate the the International Human Rights Day. The event was held at the National Museum of Unity, Ibadan.

Several schools around Ibadan were represented. Among the speakers on the panel to speak on the theme of the event included the Chairman of the National Youth Agency, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), National representative of the United Nations Population Fund, and lecturers from the University of Ibadan and the University College Hospital. Several of the mentors of the forum were also in attendance. The event was a huge success.

Among the topics discussed included :

Prior to the event, a talent – essay and art competition was organised. Successful entries from the Youth contest were also announced and the prizes awarded.

·      A lot of good entries were submitted and we had to struggle with selecting the most exciting ones that met the criteria set on the essays.

·      All participants of the event would awarded certificates of attendance while the schools will be awarded Plaques.

·      The purpose of the contest can be summed up in Koffi Annan’s words:


“Young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow; They can play a leading role in the development of Their communities today. Let us hope that their good works today blossom in lifelong commitments, that will Benefit all the world’s people.
